Satan actually has upon his spiritual form a long scar down his back. Something he obtained when Mikhael cornered him. Because of his sudden move, he did not lose his head and instead of a partial body scar. Around his neck to down his back. These days it will be more of a fissure.
"And war arose in Heaven, and Michael and His Angels fought against the Dragon. And the Dragon and his Angels were defeated, and no more place was for them in Heaven any longer. And that ancient serpent who is called Satan and the Devil - the deceiver of the world, was thrown down to earth, and his angels were thrown down with him." Revelations 12:7-9 I believe.
Ironically enough, even in the deceiver's pitiable state, were he to relinquish that foolish pride and ask forgiveness - he would be welcomed back into Heaven.
The whole of this chapter of Revelations is also meant to draw a sharp contrast between the two sides of the War in Heaven: God is good, all-knowing, all powerful and loving.
The deceiver is evil, ignorant, impotent and full of hate. After getting shown the boot by Archangel Michael, he lost his beautiful form and was instead twisted into a hideous and terrible one. Warped by his own pride.
Now, I'm not Catholic (Eastern Orthodox actually) but I do believe.

i love how the picture freezes the moment that is the climax of the battle between satan and Micheal.
